We enjoyed our stay at Donnacona very, very much. We had 10 sunny days, with all the boys . The island is so beautiful, in every way. My grandson, now 11, is very comfortable in the deeper water, so he loved Lake Sir John. Honestly, our time there couldn't have gone better. Steve was always very helpful, and David was very happy to sail the Sunfish. Thank you, Christopher!

Simply gorgeous, authentic, charming and tastefully renovated cottage. You have your own island on a lake with water of impeccable clarity. This is the perfect cottage for your holiday. You won’t miss anything and you’ll come back from your vacation completely rested. We were there with a newborn baby, only a few months old, and we came back completely refreshed and rested ... it says it all!

I stayed at Donnacona with my husband for a week in July 2016. We absolutely loved it, as did other family members who visited us for a couple of days. After our busy city jobs, the peace and quiet of the island cottage were most welcome. The quiet is exceptional, by the way: because there are no neighbours and no motorized boats are allowed on Lac Sir John, all you usually hear are the trees moving in the wind and an occasional call of the loon at dusk. The cottage has a perfect combination of rustic and comfortable. In a log cabin, you never forget that you are in the middle of the lake, yet it’s fantastic to be able to take advantage of a dishwasher, toaster oven, microwave, etc. The uncluttered interior with mostly antique or antique-looking furnishings brings the calm of the natural surroundings inside. Everything is well-maintained, and Christopher tried his best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. You can swim (the lake water is so clean it is drinkable), go fishing, take a canoe or a sail boat to explore the lake, go for a hike, or visit a farmer’s market on Tuesdays, all of which we did and enjoyed. The history of Donnacona, which stayed with the same family for more than a hundred years, with photographs of its owners taken in 1889 hanging on the wall, adds a special charm to it. Knowing that this place has been loved for generations makes you feel you’re continuing a great tradition, even if for a week or two. We seriously didn’t want to leave and are really hoping to be back next summer!

This stunning, luxury log cottage comfortably sleeps 6 in bedrooms and 2 more in a pull out couch (8 people total). Exclusive usage of the cottage, 2 hectare island and lakefront facilities. There are boats on the island for going back and forth. The lake is non-motorised, no jets skis, waterskiing, just sailboats, canoes, kayaks , paddle boards, and small fishing boats with motors.
